AAA Living. Alaska by land and sea (Sept/Oct 2009): Four black bears cavort just 30 feet from me in Neets Bay, a remote region of Alaska that I've accessed via floatplane from Ketchikan. My instructions are clear: No running, sudden movement or flash photography. Most importantly? "No petting the bears," says my guide. "You'd be surprised how many people try." I see why. They look cuddly and adorable, especially the cub lumbering toward me. Slowly, I withdraw, and he turns his attention back to the salmon-filled river behind him. The truth is, I've had more of these National Geographic-like moments during my 11-day Alaska Princess cruisetour than I ever thought possible.

American Airlines Women's website. Take an eco-trip (April 2010): You've done the necessary green makeover at home. You carpool to work, or at least run errands more efficiently. And you recycle everything from the junk mail to that tiny receipt. But what about when you leave home for, say, a family vacation? Fortunately, traveling green is an easier task than you might imagine.

American Airlines Women's website. London calling (Sept 2009). London hosts the Summer Olympics in 2012, but you don't have to wait that long to get there, especially if you're seeking a fun getaway with your gal pals. Not only is London accessible, it also poses no language barriers, offers something for everybody and is easy to navigate. "You can't believe how easy it is to walk around London," says Allison O'Sullivan, managing director of The Women's Travel Club in Bloomfield, N.J., a division of Club ABC Tours and one of the oldest travel clubs for women which specializes in international travel. Below, O'Sullivan shares 10 of her top to-do's during your trip.

Delta Sky. Climbing Via Ferratas (Oct 2009): Via ferratas (iron paths) are the rage in Europe and have recently made their way to the United States.

Delta Sky. A horse race in Paris and other sporting trips (Aug 2009): You might pick your vacations by location, but this fall, take a different approach. Mix with locals and visitors at a unique, high-profile sporting event before taking in the sites in these eclectic cities. Below are six trips that will appeal to any travel enthusiast, from an outrigger canoe race in Hawaii to a bike race in Ireland. But first, a world-class horse race in Paris.

Oxygen. Back on track (June 2009): I've ridden thousands of miles on my road bike. So it's a little ironic that I'm nervous about taking my first spin around a velodrome, a steeply banked oval track. There are, after all, no people, potholes or cars on this outdoor concrete track, the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis, Indiana. In other words, I should have nothing to fear.

Rails to Trails. Canyon Glory - Utah's Provo River Trail (Spring 2008): When I told family and friends I was heading to Provo, Utah, they stared at me blankly. "Why?" they asked, assuming that if your destination is Utah, you go to Park City or Moab. But Provo? Granted, it is home to Brigham Young University (BYU) and was rated America's least stressed midsized city in 2004. Truth be told, though, I was skeptical, too.

USA Today's Open Air. Rock of ages (Spring 2009): It's million of years old and a spectacularly beautiful natural wonder -- an enormous gash in the desert landscape of the American Southwest. Its exact age remains a mystery that scientists continue to probe. Theories on its formation abound, but no one is exactly sure how it happened. What we do know is that a very, very long time ago, a combination of powerful, natural hydraulic forces mixed with some serious tectonic muscle sliced open a big, long stretch of rock and dirt. The result was something that the collective brilliance (and budgets) of Spielberg, Lucas and DeMille could never have come up with: the Grand Canyon.

Woman's Day. Winter retreat in Whistler (Nov 11, 2008): Since cold-weather season is right around the corner, it's the perfect time to start planning the ultimate winter retreat. You'll definitely want to make Whistler, Canada, your top destination. Not only is it one of the best ski resorts in North America, but along with Vancouver, it's the host site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Woman's Day. A new view of Vegas (Oct 7, 2008): Casinos aren't the only reason to visit Las Vegas. In fact, there are so many other things to do in Vegas that you could spend an entire weekend without dropping a dime in the slot machine. And that's a good thing because you'll want that dime for other indulgences.
